Geometric Story
This mural was painted for SYJAC, a cultural center located in San Cristóbal de las Casas, México. It was my first public mural! In this mural I played with an unifying geometric base pattern and the metamorphosing of the forms. The base pattern gave me a framework for transforming the shapes into another ones in a fluid manner and conserving harmony. I discovered new possibilities with the shapes as I was painting and it felt like a continuous discovery. In my later work I have many times returned to this idea of the geometric metamorphosis.
